Green bean is the most cultivated and consumed grain legume in the world, and it has an important role in human diet, due to its high protein and mineral content. Since common bean get high prices on the market, it is cultivated all year round, commonly in greenhouse. However, light intensity for green bean cultivation may be limiting sometimes in greenhouse, especially in fall and winter season. Following to this, the use of artificial lighting has been recently proposed even in Mediterranean regions of Europe, as it may increase the production, improve quality, and allow indoor cultivation if natural light is insufficient and, ultimately, increase the performance of greenhouse crops.
